#MinnesotaMonday - #HappyBirthdayMinnesota
Minnesota was admitted as the 32nd U.S. state on May 11, 1858, created from the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory.
There are two nicknames for the state of Minnesota, including North Star State and Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Our state bird is the Loon, our state flower is the Lady's Slipper, and our state tree is the Red Pine.
The state name "Minnesota" is based on the Dakota Sioux Indian word mnisota for "sky-tinted water," which refers to the Minnesota River.
Since the beginning of our statehood in 1858, many distinct things are now considered "Minnesotan," ranging from Minnesota Nice to ice fishing!
In celebration of our official statehood, I encourage you all to partake in something fantastically Minnesotan. Even with social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines in place, there are many things to celebrate today!
